I currently own a V-Tech 5.8 ghz telephone/digital answering machine. Recently the incoming messages are garbled and undecipherable. This has been an issue for years at my residence. I used an old tape answering machine that worked for about a year and a half, then the messages got garbled. Gave it away to a buddy that needed a phone, and low and behold the answering machine worked great for him. I have switched from Qwest to the local cable outfit for service. They recommened the V-Tech brand for compatability. Machine worked great for about a year, now can't understand the messages. The announcement is clear, so it's not the speaker, and the phone works great. Over the years have used Uniden, AT&T, Bell, and now V-Tech. Always the same thing. Works great for a while, then craps out. If I had bad wiring I would think that the phone/answering machine wouldn't work from the beginning. Been to the V-Tech site, not much for support with this problem. Anyone else run into this kind of trouble? Thanks in advance for any insight you might have into this problem. Mike R.

Chad,
Thanks for the reply. Didn't even think about that. Midco wants $6 a month for that service. At least I have an option. Their support was pretty baffled as well. The gentleman did give me a couple of things to try. I'll keep ya posted. Mike. |

That is really strange. I've got the same exact phone and it works great. Never a problem. Wish I could help. All I can say, its a good phone.

Are you using Voice over IP for the phone?
