This plastic piece with the gauges I can no longer get. It is in rough condition, cracking around the edges and as you can see not smartly laid out. I was thinking of wrapping a piece of aluminum that will cover the hole in a matching vinyl or carpet and place the gauges on that. The gauges will lye on the angle of the console, I don't believe that would cause a problem in seeing them. What do you all think. Probably a little hard to imagine but I welcome any ideas. The boat has been totally redone, new carpets, decks, motors I can't let continue to look like this. It has not gone through the spring cleaning yet. Still in the spring working out the kinks phase so please excuse the apperance of the interior. The mold seen will be gone shortly. Last edited by FinsNFeet; 04-19-2009 at 09:38 AM. Remake it with starboard or use plywood wrapped in vinyl.

or 1/4" thick Plexiglass, and paint it black from the back side.

I used a black plastic cutting board. They are $8 at Kmart. 1/4" thick and very easy to work with.
Another option would be a piece of gray, composite decking fascia. Router the edges and you're good to go. Last edited by Modog; 04-19-2009 at 12:32 PM. |

Black starboard or cutting board, and I would included the trim switch and guage at the bottom, and replace one big square with the layout of guages you want. I just completed a replacement of my plastic/carbon fiber fake on my lund dash with black starboard.

There is a picture in Modogs Album of the cutting board material that I used on my dash. I used it to flush mount my Trollmaster control box and the kicker start/stop and tilt switches. I thought it turned out OK.

How large is the area you need. I think I still have some small 1/8" plastic sheets from when I was doing car stereo installs. I can dig around a little.

I like all the ideas, I have to look into the black cutting board. I will need something in the area of 14 in X 14 in. My major concern was that is would be at a slight angle. I don't think that it should create a problem in fact I was thinking it might make reading the gauges easier. I no longer need the tilt and trim switch any longer since it was disconnected when they hung the new motor and all that is on the tiller handle. The gas gauge is useless and I put a LMF200 with a EP60 fuel flow so that concern was addressed. I'm sure I will find something to replace those. I was thinking about installing a light inside the console and could use that area for the on/off switch. I don't know what starboard is but will look into it. Thank you all very much, appreciate the help.
