I need some words of wisdom.
I am installing a Garelick kicker motor bracket on the back of my LUND 1900 to accomodate a 9.9 kicker. I've got it all lined up properly and set to drill but here is my problem. On the LUND where the lower two holes go through the transom - it is in a spot that is isolated and totally impossible to access from inside the boat so I can't put the nuts onto the bolts. I can use the nuts and bolts for the top two holes (one on each side) because they exit in the well of the boat. But the bottom two are impossible to access. I am thinking for the bottom two hole that instead of using the nuts and bolts provided with the motor mount, that I will drill the holes and then use comparable size "lag bolts". The transom on the LUND 1900s is very thick - so I believe the lag bolts will secure the mount well. Plus, I'll still have the upper two nuts and bolts in place. Other folks who own LUNDS must have encountered this same problem. How did you mount your kicker motor bracket. Do you think my solution will work? Thanks for any and all comments. I had a similar problem on a Sylvan. I installed an access hatch in the splash well so I could reach the backside of the transom. Easy job, just be careful of the cutout and use a good sealant. I personally would be reluctant to use lag bolts. The constant stress of bouncing all that weight would eventually loosen them up. On my Panther Lift (and main engine), I check the nuts on the attachment bolts at least once a season. They will almost always take up a little. Lag bolts would be a spot for water to get into your transom, problems down the road.

My 02, 1900 has the 15 hp kicker attached directly to the transom. Just tightened by hand with the clamps, no extra bracket.
