Default Prov or Lund gas tank/lines/connections.

I have a dilemma... My verado and My kicker are both being starved of fuel. The primer ball for the kicker is going soft every 15 min. This happened last year also. SO before I rip up the floor in my boat. Are there any connections or filters by the gas tank that can get clogged/dirty? Last year I changed the filter in the verado and put a new fuel line and ball on the kicker and the problem went away. But these problems come show up at the same time. Both engine are being starved of fuel ... What does it look like under the floor?

PS- my fuel selector is set on reserve, not sure if that would matter

you should have an anti syphon valve (check valve) on your fuel outlet on your tank. It might be bad or plugged.

Not sure if you have one, but you should. I do.

Last I knew, there was no anti-syphon valve.
I/Os have them...but not the outboard models....last I knew...
If you have a Pro V there are two fuel take-outs (prongs) coming off the gas tank. One for the kicker, one for the Verado.
Rigged properly, a fuel line runs to each motor. (However, it is possible that you are not necessarily rigged properly)
No primerbulb on the Verado.
Fuel selector on Reserve is normal.

Possibly you have a load of water in your fuel. (it will sink to the bottom...being heavier than the gas)

First off.....Try leaving the gas cap open and see if it still does it? Maybe the vent is plugged tight....?

I took the vent cap off (on the side of the boat by the gas cap) and it is clear. Is there a another vent some where else?

I have four fuel line going to the tank selection Main motor-reserve - main tank- and kicker.

I really dont want to rip up the floor if there isnt anything ynder there where it can cause me the problem of both engines being starved of fuel.

When you say 4 lines to the selector, is that 2 in from the tank (main tank, reserve)and 2 out to the outboards (main motor, kicker)?

If so I'd disconnect and plug/cap the line going out to the kicker and see if the Verado still has issues. If it runs OK then at least you have the issue narrowed down and you haven't had to rip up the floor. Could be another defective check ball in the kicker line, especially if you've had the issue before and this resolved it. Depending on where you got it, some of that stuff is made cheaply and I've had those check balls go bad in a short period of time.

I figured out my verado. I think. I had these two hoses just hangin there and were not in place and I am assuming they came out when my engine was rained last week......here is a pic..http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...erado002-1.jpg

So now my issue is narrowed down to just my kicker. Is it possible that my primer ball/line when bad in one year, a new one was put on last summer. I do put alot of time in my boat for someone who has a full time job. 100 hrs in one year (i think its alot anyways) If the primer is good what else could cause the primer to go soft? nothing? or is there something else I am missing?

What kicker do you have? There have been circumstances where guys were swapping-out Merc fuel pumps for a water-cooled unit from Yamaha, that has a lot more "pull". I think Mercury up-graded the fuel pumps on newer Pro-Kickers.
9.9 ProKicker Upgrades Unveiled

Mercury recently introduced improvements to the popular 9.9 ProKicker series of outboards.

The first, most noticeable change is an upgrade to the graphics on the outboard series. These new graphics first debuted on the new 15 ProKicker and have now become standard on the 9.9 ProKicker as well. The new ProKicker graphics are designed to compliment the OptiMax ProXS and Verado main outboards. As an auxiliary outboard installed next to a ProXS or Verado outboard, the improved ProKicker graphics will make your rig stand out from the rest of the pack.

A second, less obvious, but more important improvement is the standard water-cooled fuel pump. This new pump provides consistent fuel delivery even under hot ambient conditions, regardless of whether the engine is pushing heavy loads at peak power or trolling at idle speeds for long stretches.

Both improvements are intended to add value to your fishing rig and deliver more pleasure from your day on the water.

Other than the primer ball whenever I've seen this (going soft after a short period of time) it's been fuel pump related. No experience with Pro Kickers though.
