Default 2004 Johnson 115 4 Stroke

Just bought Lund boat with the Johnson 115 on it. The boat has really low hours on it and has not been used much in the last couple of years. I've had it out 6 to 8 times this season and the first few times it ran like a top. the last 2 times I've had the boat on the water it has been really cold blooded.

The motor starts right up and idles fine, but when it is put into gear it spits and sputters and quits once in a while. Seems to run really rough too. It only does this for a short time and once the motor is warmed up it runs great.

Since the boat has not been used much in the last couple of years, could there be some carbon built up in the motor?? Possibly a shock treatment in this situation could remedy my problem.

Looking for other opinions such as plugs, wires, bad gas, ect.

Please give your feedback and let me know what think my problem could be.

Thanks
