Question Yamaha 150 - Smart Craft

Has anyone heard of some product developments from Yamaha that are similar to the Mercury Smart Craft gauges? I have a 150 hp 4-stroke Yamaha tiller and I am jealous of my friends who have Mercury Verados and can decrease the rpms (thus slowing the motor for trolling) with the push of a button. I know Yamaha offers the rpm adjustment on the tiller handle of their motors up to....I believe 80hp (?). I have no interest in mounting a kicker on my boat. Thanks .

Looking at the Command Link info, it appears to be more engine related, rather than gauge. Look at the last line in this screen shot, it shows rpm-adjustment capability for the F40-90 & F250-350 motors. So, they have the technology, but have not applied it to the 150-class motors.

Ooohhh, timely post. I was just looking this up yesterday as I'd like to add this functionality to my F75. Anyone know how much this command link gage is? Can it be wired by a DIY'er, or best done at dealer? Also are there restrictions on which four stroke Yamaha's this is an option on?

One other possible option for the smaller inline fours. On one of the other boards, someone had hooked up a Yamaha VTS switch to bump the rpm's up and down in 50 rpm increments at the console. About a $70 switch I think. The switch was meant to be mounted on tiller handles, as the wire and connector were short. This guy spliced in a much longer length of wire and re-used the connector. The connector apparently plugs in to the engine and is plug and play. I did a little web research, and best guess came up with part 6C5-W8186-00-00. I have NOT confirmed if this is the correct switch or not. If someone more knowledgable than me can confirm, great.

Default Thanks guys. Any insight Big Crappie?

Thanks guys!

Big Crappie, you always have the inside scoop when it comes to Yamaha outboards; do you see anything on the horizon for rpm control on the F150 tiller (command link or the new tiller handle now only available on the low hp F series)? If so, would either option be available for a 2008 model that has the Merten's system? Thanks.
