Default Instructions for replacing impeller - Nissan 8 HP

I picked up a 1987 Nissan 8HP 2 stroke that I need to unload. It doesn't fit my boat very well. It starts and runs good, but it appears that the impeller needs replaced - no water at the pee hole.

Any quick instructions on how to do this? I'm not even sure where the impeller is, so I don'r know which bolts to loosen first.

Should I buy a whole impeller kit, or just the impeller?

I know I should buy a repair manual, but I'm just trying to make it run OK so I can sell it. I hate to spend $50 on a book I'm going to use once. A trip to a repair shop would also be overkill on this job.

Thanks for any advice...

Bowfin, thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of Youtube.

So I viewed a few videos. Drained the oil and loosened the 4 bolts and removed the "E-ring" on the shifter knob. Tapped the lower unit with a rubber mallet, but it only moved about 5/16". It didn't want to move at all at first, but some spirited banging finally broke it loose. I now have a 5/16" gap, but it won't budge any further. Something is hung up, but I don't want to force something and break it. Any ideas?

Default Pee Hole

I would have checked to see if a bug or something else had plugged the pee hole before tearing into the motor. Always try the simple things first.

Default Nissan impeller

Thanks guys, I'll check for a pin near the shifter! I'll check for a clogged water tube, but I know this motor has been stored for a while, and I just want to replace the impeller. I'll be selling the motor anyway, but I want to do the right thing for the new owner.

I've looked for a repair manual, but can't find anything that goes back to 1987. Most of them start at 1992.

I would bet it did not change between 87 and 92. probably the same design
