didn't the low oil alarm sound ?
a knock doesn't sound good and maybe you are not running on all four. I would get it checked out right away to make sure there is no damage.

It's a 2002 I dont have an alarm.I read on the net that a guy sprayed his carbs and pistons with oil and he said it worked.I dont think you want to do that to your carbarator. And I dont know how you could.

Your entire oil reservoir drained ???? I would have someone check out to see if the cylinders are scored. IMHO, if you ran without oil until it stopped do to overheating, you probably will need a re-build. I would find a qualified outboard mechanic to check it out.

my 1998 115 merc had an oil alarm and an over heating alarm. I believe a steady beeep was over heating and the low oil alarm was an intermittent beep.

my 93 johnson had an alarm, it sounded and I thought I could make it the 1/2 mile back to the dock, well it cost me 1800 bucks, it happens quick, I doubt you will be able to use the motor much more.

A "knock" sounds like you spun a bearing. Time for a new motor, or a complete rebuild. If you have a rebuild, you may want to check into some performance tuning while they are at it.

To the best of my knowledge...any 2002 Merc 2 stroke @ 115hp should have had an alarm system. It is part of the deal.
The alarm system makes noise...but also would have shut it down to where you had to add oil to go faster than fast idle (before the engine gets hurt).

Who rigged that boat?
If there is no alarm system... you better have a serious chat with them.
