Hi Fellow Members,
Seems like I left the Vantage motor deployed a bit while I took off with the Main motor (Opti 250) and the prop on the Vantage was either torn off or popped off by the force of water rushing by. Stupid Mistake !!! Has anyone else had this problem in the past, and what do I need to do to fix it? It seems like the motor still goes up and down just fine - so I don't think I messed up the shaft. I'm not sure if I can just pop another prop on, or If I need to replace something else internally. Any help appreciated. Thanks a bunch! |

I pulled that same stunt on Lake Geneva last fall. I took it to a guy in DeKalb, IL that repairs Minnkota's. I had to replaced some sort of hinge gadget and a circuit board. I think it set me back close to $400. Being only a couple of years old, it was made sense for me to get it fixed. The prop was not damaged. Mines not a Vantage.
I would think it would be worth the cost of a prop and trying that before you take it in to be checked, but it's easy for me to spend your money. Hope it's just the prop. Nimstug Last edited by Nimstug; 07-10-2009 at 02:25 PM. |

Props are cheap, I'd throw one on and hope that solves the problem.
If not, it's in to the shop for what's likely to be a pricey repair... Waxy |

many many folks have taken off with their vantages down with bad results. Jim Wentworth of the brainerd area has invented a something that will prevent you from starting your main engine while the vantage is down, ultimately saving you from damage, I know not where he works out of now? used to be at nisswa. Maybe someone out there knows? Jim? Hi from Dave Shefland

Fishrmn give Jim Wentworth a call: 218- 568-4806 in Pequot Lakes, MN.
He can advise you on your Vantage and hook you up with the gizmo for the Vantage as Dave in Walker suggested. Jim rigged my boat and truly knows his stuff, solves problems, including inventions for solutions. JDP Last edited by JDP; 07-11-2009 at 08:06 AM. Reason: grammer |
