Just fishing now
I gave up hunting years ago when I was leaning against a tree and a deer slug hit the tree less than a foot above my head, that was enough for me to walk out of the woods and never hunt again. Too many careless hunters for me.

That's too bad - I hate to see one careless jack*ss ruin hunting for anyone.

But, fishing usually wins.Thinking it over, I realize it is more important for me to live where fishing is good, than hunting. But luckily I have both here. Best thing about walleye fishing is .....I don't have to have any landowner permission. Last edited by T Mac; 11-18-2010 at 01:40 PM. |

Yeah. What he said. I do try to slip in a little steelhead fishing if I can though. If I had to choose one over the other, most of the time hunting would win out.

Im with Phowler.....Give me my shotgun and some ducks and geese and fishing will be hte furthest from my mind. I always say that "im gonna fish this fall for the big ones", but always get caught up in the goose pit. Fishing is what I do when I cant hunt. I love the walleyes, pike and panfish, but get outta my way when the migration is on. My mom said it right along time ago when I was still in high school and sneaking to the marsh before school and on xmas morning. She said i have a sickness, and have it way worse than my father did......She's right.

When I was younger it was hunting first and fishing second. Now that I am just about 50 it has reversed to fishing first. I still hunt but not near as much as years past. I really enjoy the fall fishing when the colors are full blown. With that said I can't wait to get out with the new pup and pop some birds

I enjoy fishing more, but when the water is hard I will be in a pit. No matter what I do though, a dog makes the experience better in both.

I got hardcore into fishing and eased up on hunting because hunting was getting to be to expensive.
Yeah, I'm a dumb a**.Like the new boat, rods, reels, tackle, electronics, etc weren't that expensive. I am hoping to drag the boat up to deer camp this year. While everyone else is out freezing in a tree, I'll be catching fresh Eyes for a deer camp fish fry.
