Default 788ci and lowrance radio

So I just installed a new 788ci on my boat and it interferes with my lowrance marine band radio. The finder is on the starboard side and the radio is on the port side they are approx 6+ feet away from eachother.ant.cable and power source for the radio are both on the port side .Power for the finder and the ducer cable are on the starboard side . I ran this way with my X 15 and HDS 7 with no problems, any help please

You might wish to try moving the location of the ground wire on the sonar, or check the ground on the radio for good contact?

Also not allowing the antenna coaxial cable to come into contact with the transducer cable at any point.... if they do?

OK Idid some more digging the power to the radio and ducer cable are in the same conduit so I shielded the power wire with foil tape . NO LUCK

Define the interference..sonar pulse ticking sounds....steady static...something else? Does it only do it when the new sonar is on and than clear up when off? If you getting a feedback from the sonar through the hull grounding the transom or checking the ground on the motor may be a plan.

If the antenna is picking it up...one may try unhooking the antenna and see if the interference is still there, if it is than I would say it is coming in through a ground...than I would move the ground wire to another point and see if that clears it up.

I'm not sure if the proximity of the two units would have much to do with it, as in too close together....it may?

Just some guess's....there are more experienced and qualified tech's here on WC.com than I, so maybe one of them has a more educated diagnostic plan than I have come up with.....I'm a "Plugger"...I try.

Dunno exactly how you wrapped the foil tape, but unless it was grounded to the battery negative terminal, it will make little-to-no difference in shielding the power cable from noise.

Things to do- Physically separate the radio power cable from the transducer cable. I run my transducer cable through the bilge, the radio power under the gunnel, so they are several feet apart. Or, change the power wiring for the radio to shielded 2-conductor wire. Ground one end only of the shield to the battery negative terminal.

You should be able to get the wire at Radio Shack.
