Default "GPS" Module not Responding"

I've got a Lowrance 332 that displays this message everytime time I fire it up. Tried a Soft reset, but no change. I've heard if I send it in the diagnosis alone is $175ish. Is 3 years all I'm going to get for the purchase price, or does someone know what I need to do? If I new how many hours are on this unit, it would be embarrassingly low! Thanks!

Check the power at the GPS module. Also, if you have the glass cartridge fuse holders, bypass them for a test to see if you can make the GPS module work- I've had trouble with the fuse holders that came with my 334 and you probably have the same kind. I replaced mine with the blade-type weatherproof fuse holder from Radio Shack.

Yarcraft is most likely right. You either have an issue with the power lead to your antenna or your antenna has gone south all together. The former should be easy to diagnose and fix, if it is the latter then your best bet is to contact Lowrance and replace through them. If I remember correctly a tech told me that they do a $99 replacement on the LGC2000 antenna. I can't remember if they do an exchange or just need the serial # off the bad one to get the replacment pricing.

The "gps module not responding" messesage is usually a power problem. If the puck was bad and was getting power it just wouldn't lock on. The LGC-2000 are very sensitive to voltage and a slight drop can cause this as well. Double check, or even rerun, the wires for any signs of corrision or dirt on the connections and inline fuses. The spring loaded inline fuses caused alot of problems when the spring would lose its tension, thus not making a good connection on the fuse anymore.

I had the same problem with my 332C that Ranger installed. I had them move the puck from under the windshield to the rear of my Reata 1850 and have had no problems since.
