Default 788ci Humminbird Question

Have a question about my 788ci Humminbird Unit. I have the unit on the front of my boat and use the universal sonar. I am having problems getting accurate GPS speed. I like to troll at .7 to .9 and my display is always jumping around. Is there a quick fix to this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Default Humminbird 788

Change the update rate of the GPS to 1 second instead of the 16 seconds it defaults to. The increase in update rate will improve the accuracy of the speed reading because the GPS is getting data in a more timely manner. TAW
