I've read a fair # of negative reviews on the Oregon, regarding the ability to see the screen outdoors, in sunlight. It appears as though Garmin has tried to improve it in the top of the line 550 series, but I haven't read anything about improvements on the other ones, nor have I tried to walk out of a store with one to try it myself.

Link to Endura Sierra reviews on the Cabela's website.

I'd be pretty disappointed if the Lowrance MapCreate software I already own can't be used with the new Lowrance handhelds...

With the many mapping options from different vendors plus the ability to work with Google Earth, the Garmins have the edge by a significant margin in my opinion.

A vendor called TRAX has very good hunting data cards with lake maps and city maps built in to the program. To date they have a chip for NDTRAX North Dakota, MNTRAX, Minnesota, and MTTRAX for Montana. Plots maps, trails, public hunting lands, state lands..and on and on are on the chip. Very good software and handy if you need data for these regions.
