Default Pro Guide Fuel Tank Vent

I have a new to me '07 2010 Pro Guide. The plastic vent just below the fuel filler cap positioned on the side of the boat appears to be broken flush with the plastic retaining nut and looks like its just a 3/8 " hole. Will water get into the fuel tank. Is this designed to let the air out and also keep the water out?

there should be a black plastic cap on the outside, which has an opening that points down for air entry. Probably got sheared off pulling up to a dock. Your dealer can certainly get you a replacement, here is an example from the Perko online catalog, pages #166-167. http://www.perko.com/frame_catalog.html

Mr,
Don't operate your boat without fixing your vent.
I agree, that it is likely that the vent got sheared off during a docking incident.

With the sheared off vent, it is easy to get both water into the tank, it is easy for fuel to splash out, and it is easy for any number of contaminants to get into the tank.

Take care

buy a handful! I break 3 or 4 a year, it is absolutely perfect height and location to get broken off at the dock, easy to fix, I try and remember to dock on the oppossite side
