Default Winter storage - do you prop up tires?

Do you jack up your trailer on blocks to take pressure off your tires during the winter? Heard that with the new radial tires, jacking up your trailer is not neccessary. Others swear that to prevent your tires from getting flat spots, and subsequent blow-outs, you should put your trailer on blocks. Boat and trailer are 2 yrs old and never a problem with blow-outs so far. Thanks again

I used to. Then one year I did not get around to doing it. That next year, no problems. After that I just didn't do it, and so far so good, no problems.

I use to when I ran Bias-plys. Not with radials, they don't seem to develop the flats spots we used to get on bias plys.

Mully,
Tires are deigned to hold the weight of the boat and trailer, come spring summer, winter and fall for as long as you own the rig.

Springs and supsension are designed to do the same thing.

Do you jack up the tires on your car, or do you jack up the body on your car to take the weight off the suspension, when you aren't using it?

Does a farmer jack up an implement that is resting on tires over the many months that it is not being used? No.

Use your boat and trailer. If you aren't using your boat and trailer, let it be and get on with the rest of your life. It will be fine.

Take care
REW

Think about it. All new boats sitting on trailers sit on those tires until sold...also cars, camp trailers, etc..
........all of them

Well, T Mac, I am shattered. I heard a rumor that you were so conscientious that you went out every day and pushed those trailers forward by hand 2 feet so the tires didn't get flat spots.

Is there nothing left to believe in?

If it's easy enough to put it up on stands just do it. I have always put my trailers up on stands when stored for extended time. Takes the pressure off the springs and some will say you can get a flat spot on the berrings( not sure on that).
