Default Mille Lacs Lake - Weekend Outlook 2-25-2010

Hi

We received just a dusting of snow this week - not enough to even plow! There has been only a handful of anglers buzzing around so far this week. Most will agree that the walleye bite is best around daylight until about 10AM. After that, it's mainly tullibee and perch. I'd stick with a small shiner on your tip-up/set line/rattle reel and rig your jig line with a small rattle spoon and a minnow head or a gob of waxies. The dark colors (blue, purple, black) have been the best so far this week again.

This Sunday, February 28th will mark the end of the walleye/northern season. The Opener is May 15, 2010. Fish houses must be removed from Mille Lacs and all other inland waters south of HWY 2 (full description on page 64) by midnight March 1, 2010.

Don't forget to check out our weekly "shop special" at www.lundeens.com

The "new" angling licenses are on sale now. They go into effect March 1, 2010 (not before). Your "old" (2009) angling license is still valid until April 30, 2010. Remember, license sales are cash only - no "plastic cards" for license purchases. The Minnesota DNR has changed out the license terminals at all of the 1500+ license agents (except for some "low producers" who will ultimately be dropped). The new terminals have slowed most license transactions somewhat. The new system requires Minnesota residents to provide a valid Minnesota drivers license or public safety ID to be eligible to purchase a resident license. These are the only acceptable forms of ID through the new terminals.

Once again this winter we are renting FL20's, power augers and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.

Finally, A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoebox in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.. For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoebox and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $25,000. He asked her about the contents. "When we were to be married," she said, "my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll." The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness. "Honey," he said, "that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?" "Oh," she said, "that's the money I made from selling the dolls."

Have a great weekend,
