Question New controls needed?

I have an Evinrude with starboard controls that's been sitting in my barn for two years. I'd like to install it on a center console boat that I can get a good deal on. I initially thought I could simply re-configure the helm controls (by pulling the shift and throttle pins and reversing them 180 degrees) and re-using them, but now I'm getting conflicting opinions as to whether that's possible. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on which style control box you have. Alot of the surface mount boxes did allow you to "switch" sides it just takes a little work. How old is the motor? The older Ev's are all over and so are alot of used controls. You should be able to find a used binnacle style made for center consoles and pontoons fairly reasonable.
