LEECH LAKE MAY 26, 10 Walleye REPORT:
Warmer weather has brought the shiners into the shallows, main lake pts in the north & east bays from Steamboat to Portage & Boy Bay. Southshore Whippholt area shiners & last yrs perch hatch is in & the walleyes are following. Wind swept points are key, some of the productive spots have been: The Narrows, Pine Pt., Little & Big Stony, Hardwood, Little Hardwood, Duck One, Ottertail, 2 Pts., Federal **** ( The Pine Tree) Sugar Pt., Diamond Pt., Little Cedar Pt., & Breezy Pt.,. No matter where you access there is a spot near by. 9-12 ft daytime, 4-9 ft. morning & evening. temp is still in the low 60's Walker Bay Low 70's temp Boy Bay. Northland's Fireball 1/8-1/4 oz. ( Color) Firetiger or Parrot have been hot. Northland's Thumper Jig 1/8-1/4 oz. ( Color) Firetiger, Glo Watermelon, Gold Shiner If water goes flat throw a Lite Bite Slip Bobber. w/ a 1/16 oz. Fireball or a plain hook w/ a leech or shiner & drift. Leeches and Crawlers are working better on the rocks & flats. Rainbow Spinner & a bottom bouncer w/ a Leech or 1/2 Crawler Gold Metallic or Green Metallic Sunrise have been the best. Don't go too fast 1mph is enough. With the full moon night trolling has been hot around Goose Island & Sand Pt., Rapala Flat rap has worked the best because you can troll super slow & twitch it on the shallow flats. Water is a little clearer, night trolling would be a good bet. Good Luck Fishing This weekend, We will see you out there.. Bro

Great Info. I am planning a trip up to Belle Taine Lake near Nevis on the 11th, 12th and 13th...I have family that have a cabin on Belle Taine. We generally lounge on the boat all day, but I was hoping to get some fishing in at least one of the days on Leech Lake or Big Sand Lake. Usually when I fish for walleye I troll with a Lindy Rig and Minnow, just wondering if this method will be successful or should I try jigging? I am also wondering if there are any good spots on Belle Taine, I have fished for walleye on that lake a few times and not had any luck. Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
