Default Terrova starts spinning on its own?

My '09 Terrova AP starts spinning on its own at times. Most of the time, but not all, it happens when I have it cranked up at a higher speed. My old 2001 Autopilot would do this also. I know I have read on this forum about this, but can't remember what was said about it. What, if anything can be done? Thanks.

I have the same motor as you. Factory Auth shop changed out whatever they change out? It still does the 'mind of it's own spin thing' just as bad if not worse than before? I don't think there is a fix? Gregory

Default I-Pilot

I have a terrova that does the same thing with the autopilot engaged. I wonder if anyone can tell us if the i-pilot feature would eliminate this because it is using GPS for navigation instead of a compass based system? (At least that is how I understand the IPilot).

I have a Terrova and towards the end of the fishing season last year, my unit did the turning on its own two times. At the time I just attributed it to maybe the battery in the remote getting low or something and didn't rally worry about it. During the winter, I ungraded to the I-Pilot and it hasn't done it since. Not sure if this answers whether it solved any issues, but this is what I experienced.

I have a PDV2 with iPilot that had the same issue. I called Minn Kota and she said is could be a voltage issue if the voltage falls below 10v. I have a 24 volt motor. I haven't been back out since to do any testing.

My Terrova twice went into full left and both times they replaced the compass/board in it, I now have the I pilot and it hasn't done it since.

All MK auto-pilots I have been around will do that now and then.

My Terrova 80 did it and now my Terrova 101 iPilot also does it. It only does it when the motor comes out of the water in higher waves.

Using the AutoPilot feature (Compass) instead of the Advanced AutoPilot feature (GPS) seems to help which I thought confusing because I thought the GPS would be better than the Compass.

mine did it the button on the i pilot was sticking they sent me a new remote. Anyone notice the advanced AP sucks for pulling boards. everytime we try to pull crawers with boards on erie we have to use the reg ap cuz the advanced does not pull the boat in a straight line. Kinda a pain u have to turn it off everytime u make a new pass. i still love my terrova

That is interesting that you do not like the new i pilot for trolling. What your saying is it will not pull the boat in a straight line and wonders right to left when it is unwanted. What is entailed in switching between regular ap and the advanced as you mentioned above while fishing?Just a push of a button? I was gonna upgrade to it this fall or winter possibly.
