Find the best dealer and get what ever they carry. Hit the search button at the top right corner and get ready to do some reading as well. These kind of questions are like peeing into a fan.

I agree, for years this question has been asked over and over. At the end of the day, do you want to be a triton guy or a ranger guy you will without a doubt be a satisfied owner with either boat.
The only clear differences are, 620 and 215 x are faster than the 621 and the rangers have a better trailer but the triton one is good too, bow storage from what guys are saying is better on the triton due to the larger bow it's deeper. Find a good dealer and buy one! I looked at them all and ended up in a 621 I'm on my second one. Still happy. If I would have picked another I know I would still be happy as I know guys with the other models. If your buying brand new the new hull 621 is sweeeet. They all rock though. |

The 621 and 215 are different types of hulls which exhibit different attributes. Ranger has more of a chard chine hull while Triton utilizes more of a soft chine hull.
Hard chine: Generally dryer as the water spits out and away from the boat. Planes faster due to more flat area. More stable in rocking waves due to flat area. Stays relatively flat in turns. Slower than a soft chine. Experience hull slap when using kicker or trolling motor. Less forgiving when running in big waters due to the flatter hull. Soft chine: Will allow some spray up the side of the boat. Slower to plane than hard chine. More forgiving while running in rough water due to the more rounded "V" type edge entering the water with less pounding. Faster than a hard chine. Experiences more roll when trolling of drifting in big waves. Little of no hull slap. Boat really banks in hard turns. I personally own an 08 Triton 215x/300 vrod and a good friend of mine owns a 2010 Ranger 621/275 vrod. Both boats are running a 9.9 Pro Kicker. This has allowed me to make real objective observations regarding both rigs. Both are great boats. In regards to fishability, I bait fish from the front of my boat over 50% of the time (in rough water also) and have not experienced the problems some others have mentioned. Additonally, I have the heavier vrod and an 80 lb hyraulic jack plate hanging off of the back. Not sure what the issue they are having is all about. Boomer

Good decision! Now the question comes down to how to rig it and what motor.
If I had to do it all over again, I would probably go with the 300 Verado (I currently have a 250 ProXS). Probably would not go for the jackplate again, definitely would get the full walkthough windshield, Terrova TM, deck insert for thre rear, and the upgraded SAS seats. Good luck! |

That 215 may now be built by Ranger at their plant in Arkansas.

Are you ordering the boat new or did you find one already rigged? Propping this boat can be interesting depending on what you are looking for.

I thought this image would help explain some of the differences between the (2010) Ranger 621 and the Triton 215x. You can see why the 621 is a more stable boat. You can also see why the 215x is faster. If your looking for ****pit area, the new 621 is the clear winner. In regards to speed and rough water ride, the 215 has the edge. My first boat was a Ranger Commanche bass boat and I've always liked that style in walleye boats too. As I generally fish with one other person, the 215 works great for me and still allows adding a 3rd person. If I were a guide or fished 3 or more people, the new Ranger would be a no brainer.
With the deeper bow and ****pit set further back, the 215 provides for a smoother ride in rough water. That said, if it's too rough out for the new 621, I'm going to be on shore (hopefully) anyway! BTW: Both boats are 21' 5" in length. Different strokes for different folks. Boomer
