MN boat license stickers

Seems like I've had the 2010 license sticker on my boat for a long time. Is there any rhyme or reason as to when they send out the renewals?

Boat registrations are for 3 years in MN.
Your next sticker will be for 2013.
The DNR will send you a notice this winter.

Thanks. They were getting so thick on the side of my boat I was thinking it was every year. Gonna do a scrapeoff on the next one to lower wind resistance.
