Anyone fish Monroe for Walleye? I have only caught a handful from there, but I haven't been particularly targeting them. The few I have had were caught mid summer in the heat and trolling Wally Divers and things like that.
I was trolling for wipers a couple weeks ago and a guy shore fishing said that there were some big eyes right there in that stretch of shoreline. Sure enough the next day right there I saw a nice big walleye floating dead. Anyone have luck catching more than one here or there? Any tips? Last edited by DRAG; 09-13-2010 at 08:40 PM. |

In our tournaments (Hoosier Walleye Association)& prefishing for them, our members have caught many walleyes from lake Monroe. Even fish up to 7+ pounds. There are some very nice fish in this lake & even the "shorts" are very fat & healthy. We have had our best luck in May through July on this body of water. Mostly dragging jig/crawlers combo, but a few have been caught trolling.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try to grab some while the wiper bite is slow...even though I'm sure the eye bite is slow
The one I saw floating was an easy 7lb fish...maybe slightly larger. The few that I have grabbed were 3-4 lbs.
