My brother is in the process of ordering a Skeeter WX2100 (I tried pushing him to a Yarcraft but had no luck). He isn't intranet savvy so he asked me to look up rigging suggestions for this boat. His main question is what is the difference between the yammy 250 and the 300 in terms of additional speed and how low the transom will sit in the water. He wants to know if he'll run into problems backtrolling with a fully loaded livewell, T-8, and 350 lb uncle sitting in the back. The only backtrolling he will actually do is backing his boat off of the trailer. I'm looking for comments from anyone out there with a WX2100 rigged with a 300 yammy, T8, and 350 lb uncle (or girlfriend
). Thanx.

I'd give Greg from Skeeter Boat Center in Chippewa Falls, WI a call. Even if you're not purchasing / ordering from him, he'd have the info and / or get you in touch with some Skeeter 2100 owners that have both 250 and the 300. Good luck to your brother. He'll love the 2100.

I found some of the answers that I was looking for, although i am even more confused now (not to mention in the wrong forum). Apparently it is only $900 to upgrade from a 250 to a 300 and the weight is the same (or within 15 lbs). I wonder what you are really getting for an additional $900; it can't be an additional 50 hp. Why would they even make a 250 if this is the case? I would think resale value alone would warrant the $900 jump. Any thoughts on this?

Not too many rigs are rated for the 300 yet, so it makes sense to make both the 250 and 300.
For the $900, I'd go with the 300. Scott |

You should strongly suggest to him that he ask his insurance company what difference his costs are for insurance going from a 250 to a 300. ALL...ALL...ALL insurance companies classify a 300 as a high performance motor...even a Yamaha!
![]() For me with commercial liability that equates to about a $500+/year difference. Now not everyone needs to have that type of coverage, but even tournament coverage is more expensive. |

I have some time in a new 2100 with the new 250 offshore Yamaha. It runs a steady 56mph. I think there is almost 5 mph left in the setup. Yamaha doesn't have props for this combo and the rpms it is running are to low. I think its a great combo. I was told by someone that checked that going to a 300 doubles your insurance? Either way its a great setup!!

I have run a wx2100 on Lake of the Woods for the past two summers.
Suggestion, Go with the t9.9, on this size a boat I found it's an awesome match and trollmaster is a must As for the 250, it does 54 on the GPS with four on board, have gotten 57-58 with 1/2 fuel and two riders You'll love this boat, have fished it in 5 footers and always felt safe. The transom is fairly high, but there is a fair amount of weight hanging out there with the 250. Outside of the need for speed I have heard that with the 300 porposing is a problem as well as getting on plane but I can't verify that. I am more than happy with the 250 yamaha and 9.9, it's a match made in heaven! Roody56 |

I am looking at a 2006 zx2050 and was wondering if the storage compartments would hold a 6" berts track and a pedestal for electric riggers? The rails run far enough back the I can't put the track on the side.
