Default prop[ question

I have a lund 1900 with 200 hp merc efi.The motor is currently mounted 2nd hole down from the top.My motor has a max rpm of 5800.I run loaded at 5600 with the stock 21 inch pitch aluminum prop and can only get about 47 mph.Looking for some more speed currently my hole shot is fine.I think a tempest prop but 19 or 21?I asked this question before but left out some details. My old boat was also a 1900 lund with a 150 efi and with a tempest prop went 45 mph.Thats why 47 out of my 200 seems light
Thanks

I run a 21P Tempest Plus on my 1900 w/175 Opti-Max and have hit 52 mph @ 5400 rpm. The rig runs an order of magnitude better than it did with a 19P standard Merc prop. My take is that you would be much happier with a 21P Tempest Plus.

To keep your rpms up there you'll need to go with a 19 tempest, another thing you can do is raise your motor up a hole and see if you can find somebody that will let you test a 19 and a 21 pitch. If you can get the rpms the 21 pitch will give you the low 50's at least. Thats only if you can get enough rpms other wise the 19 tempest will be just as fast since you'll be running more rpms.

Default prop

I said in my post Iam currently running a 19 pitch stock prop by mistake Iam running a 21 inch stock prop.Would that make a difference in your pitch recomendation going to the tempest prop.Do you think I can spin the 21 or should I start with the 19.I can raise the motor in my shop not a big deal if I have to.Thanks prop man I really value your advice!

You'll lose 200 rpm just going from Al to SS so you should still see 5400 rpm with the 21P SS which is still O.K.

What year is your 200 EFI? If its a 2.5L I would prop it to keep the RPMs up towards max. They really like to spin and make their best power up there. If its a 3.0L you can run it a bit lower and it will be happy.

Your very best bet (like propman said) is to find a shop that will let you run both props.
