Default Seaview Pod vs Ram Mount

I am looking to mount a second Lowrance HDS-10 on my console (have one in dash) on my 2010 Ranger 621 with split windshields. was wondering if anyone has used the Seaview Pod instead of the Ram mount? would it fit in my application and how would it hold up? I like the idea of the custom installation without having the cables exposed and this seems like it might work. They come in white or black but was wondering if they could be custom painted to match the dark grey Ranger poliflake on my boat? Perhaps Ranger could custom paint one if I send it to them.
