This is Ted Jias again. Another question about Nokina. Especially for someone from Mi. or southern Ont.
Getting to Nokina, has anyone taken the route through Manitouwadge over the last few years??? We took it once but it was back in the 70's. Just wondered if there has been any changes made up there. My three boys and I are going to leuenbergers in July. Thanks for any info anyone can give Ted Jias Bad Axe Mi. |

Agree with going thru Hornepayne. A few more miles but quicker/better.

Thank you gentlemen. When we went that way it was so dusty it was unbelievable.
Good fishing, Ted Jias |

We also take 631 through Hornepayne but if you want some real adventure take the logging roads just east of Longlac into Nakina. I say adventure because there are no road signs , just keep taking lefts at every major junction.

Well you asked about the route from either MI or southern ONT.
From southern ON, the ONLY way to go is straight up 11 and across. Boring, boring hwy, but little to no traffic and few towns to pass through, especially west of Cochrane. The alternative is the trans Canada and it's waaay slower. Clogged with transports from Sudbury west and lots of small towns to slow you down. |
