I have a 2003 ranger 619 that i use for multiple species. I fish for bass and musky primarily, but recently have gotten into trolling for various species. Last year, i was trolling with rod holders and dipseys and leadcore, but this year i want to go deeper easier. So i'm thinking of 6" bert or cannon tracks in back corners (rounded area with carpet) of deck with base pedestals and cannon downriggers.
A couple of questions: 1) I don't believe i can get a backer under this area, so will it be safe to mount them with screws. Any advice on this? 2) Those that have done this, do the tracks get in the way and cause problems, do they have sharp edges or do you stub your toes, whether its moving around casting from the back or using the boat for swimming boating etc. 3) It seems like if the tracks had rubber caps that could go over them, that would help a lot, but i haven't seen caps on the various websites. Can anybody help with this. Thanks. Mike |

Look in my photo gallery. You should be able to get under that area but not familiar with the rear layout of your model. Tracks are no big deal when the riggers aren't in them, hardly notice them. gotta run sorry for the short post, let me know if you have any further questions and I'll help I've been there and done that.

I have a 03 619, I put big jon plates on the carpeted corners to these I found 6 in. risers to attach the downrigger bases to. I made plates drilled them for backing plates under the corners you can get your hand in there it is tight but when you are done they are solid. to get in there you go from back through the round covers in the back.

Thanks for the replys. I'm going to go ahead and do this in a month or so, so i may may in touch with more questions.
I know you said they are not really in the way, but i'm still wondering if there is a rubber or plastic cap that goes over the tracks when not in use. Thanks again. |
