Default keel weights

Never used them, was wondering what the thoughts are on these? Looks like they are like in-line weights and do you like colors or just plain lead color? Thanks in advance!

Are you referring to the keel weights with bead swivels?

If so I have used them in front of minnow harnesses in Canada. They get hung up just as well as a normal bead swivel weight.

I don't run nice inline weights in Canada because I lose quite a few. I save those for trolling for suspending fish when I don't expect a hang up.

I prefer these over any other type of trolling weight when trying to stay on the bottom, they are cheap and easy to attach different minnow harnesses to. I only use plain color, nothing fancy.

I have some of these exact keel weights and have caught many lake Erie walleyes while using them in front of harness's.Me personally prefer color but that's me.The guy that makes them was great to deal with and is a regular here on the site.Give them a try I don't think you will be disappointed. Also give the Bass Pro inline weights that look like fish a try they also work very well just be careful with the clips they tend to fall off the weight if you do not snap them shut when in the storage box.If you do loose one of the clips they are easily replaced with a non swivel snap.

Make sure you check out the Bass Pro Shops Fish Weights. See them here:

http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st..._SearchResults

They are fish catching machines. Far better than a standard bead chain sinker or keel weight because of the shape, attachment points, and holographic foil finishes. I do like to change the back clip to a standard round bend snap.

I see you are from Tawas so you likely fish Saginaw Bay. Colors that I really like on the bay are 04 (goby looking color) and 08 (Firetiger). There was a PWT event on the bay where 4 out of the top 6 anglers were using BPS fish weights. That wasn't a coincidence, these weights will help you catch more fish.

Default Bass Pro Weights

Have to agree on the fish weights, I liked them so well that I stole some from Jim C. when he wasn't looking. Rainbow and gold have been good for me BaysdeNoc area.

Walleye,
They might be $5 a piece, but you aren't going to bounce those on the bottom, so loosing them shouldn't really happen. I used them on Erie and love them, wait for a sale and stock up.

I do use the keel weights you referred to above, never tried a painted version. I use these to bounce the bottom when pulling harnesses though, so I won't pay to have them painted.
