Hello all.
I'm new to the board but have visited the site several times. I publish an online magazine and this year I have a particular passion for walleye through the ice. One thing I'm noticing when I harvest a fish and clean it is that gobies are playing a much bigger role in the food chain. Is that the cast in the lakes you fish? Thanks |

Goby (Round Goby) are an invasive spieces that showed up in the Great Lakes system about 12 years ago. It was thought they would be disasterous for bass because they are prolific bed raiders. So far they have become an easy source of food for both bass and walleye. The long term effects are yet to be known.

Welcome to the site...thanks for registering.
![]() Gobies are cute...they have flower pedal fins and are silky soft to the touch. I don't think I've ever seen one over 4 or 5 inches though. Do they get bigger than that? Juls

They get pretty big on Erie. I've caught them during bass tournaments over 7 inches.
