You are right about L.S. The person I talked with has a cabin on L.S. She said the water was a little low in their bay.

mike lives in wisconsin year round, you can get in touch with him at his winter address and phone number. he has always been reliable with answering or at least calling back quickly if he misses you, nice guy and willing to work for you. Never tried getting in touch with the lodge with the canadian phone number but I would suggest just calling mike at his wisconsin number. We leave the milwaukee area in under 48 hours now. Its gonna be the longest 48 hours of my life! If anyone needs help with tactics and/or spots we have been very successfull the last couple years and I would be happy to share. Ill check this site once or twice more before we go, otherwise ill post how we did when we get back June 12th. Let the walter slaying begin!

Default Anderson Manitou Falls

We will be heading to Manitou Falls the end of August this summer. We have 4 in our group with a couple of maybe's. Hard to get crop farmers to commit to leaving the farm with harvest around the corner.

The highest water level I have ever seen at Andersons was late August, 2009. When we arrived the water level was about a foot above the retaining wall. The water was right up to the bottom step of the cabins and we had to walk across planks to get to the docks. If the water was a few feet higher we could have pulled the boat right up to the cabin and tied off to the porch post! By weeks end the water was down about 6"......as others have said the fishing was still excellent. My dad landed a 48" plus muskie just down and around the corner from the outpost cabin that year.

We got back last Saturday and the fishing was great as usual.

Our group has been going to the camp for over 30 years and came back this year pretty disgusted with the condition of the motors. We have expressed our disappointment to Mike.

Ruely (sp?) told us he and his Dad are buying a fishing camp in South Africa (he is from their). He plans to leave when the deal is done. I wonder than what happens then to Manitou Falls Camp with Mike as an absentee owner?

we got back last weekend and the fishing was very good, not our best year but still very good. our walleye numbers were down a bit this year but that had more to do with the amount of time we spent casting for bass and northerns more so than the walleye fishing being slow. lots more bass this year than years past(mostly on cranks but caught them a number of different ways), and more large pike than years past(good amount of 32 to 37 inchers with the biggest at 39). biggest walleye for us was 27 1\2 inches with fewer fish in the 24 inch and up range than the past couple years. most walleyes were jigging gulp but we caught quite a few on other things(casting jerk baits and cranks, trolling cranks and live minnows all worked well at times). all bass were very nice but nothing huge, most were 16 to 17 inches with very few below 15, largest at 19. water temps varied a lot with main lake areas around 55-56 early in the week and water temps made it to the upper 60's in some of the shallow dark bottom bays by the end of the week after some warm days and sun. be happy to share more detailed info for anyone who may ask, otherwise looking forward to next year already, a week isnt enough up there, looking to do maybe 10 days or so one of these years if vacation time from work allows it!
