My family and I are close to purchasing a boat? So far we are down to 3, Alumacraft Dominator or Navigator 175 Sport with a 115 hp or a Lund Impact 1775 Sport with a 115Merc 4 stroke. Prices are within a few hundred of each other.
What are everyones thoughts on these two boats? I grew up with family all in Lunds and always thought my next boat would be another Lund. I have not heard much from other Alumacraft owners to know if they are comparable. Thanks |

lund for me. if price is similar and layouts in both are what you like i would go for the lund. however...if i had to have an aluminum boat other than lund...well, it would be an alumacraft.

I had an Alumacraft for 11 plus years. Never had any issues with boat at all. I think that they are a good boat at a good price. I just purchased a new Fish Hawk 1750 last summer but if we would have had a Alumacraft dealer that was close to where I live I would have bought the Alumacraft Dominator.

if the price is close on similarly equipped rigs, I'd go with the Lund. One of Alumacrafts "selling points" is that they are not as expensive "new" as Lund, but at resale time, the next buyer expects to pay less too. You should be able to re-coup the initial expense down the road.
I like either one of them, and have friends who have both. But,,,,,, the guys with the Alumacrafts often start their sentences with "it's just as good as a Lund". Happy shopping, HRG

See my PM. I just made the exact same buying decision. I made my own choice after sitting in both of them side by side, after having already made up my mind beforehand....

I just traded my '09 Alumacraft Navigator 165cs off for the new Lund impact 1775, 115 Merc 4-s, etc. I ended up being so disgusted with the Alumacraft I decided to go ahead and spend more money....if that tells you anything. The Alumacraft had issues right out of the gate, and the shoddy dealer made things worse. The worse part about the whole thing is I traded my paid for Lund for the Alumacraft originally. I've regretted that decision since the day I first put the Alumacraft in the water.
You might do ok with the Alumacraft if you have a good dealer, but my vote would be LUND. With a Merc 4 stroke. You can't beat them for starting right off, they run quiet, dependable, etc. If your looking for a fast hole shot though, you might want to consider the 2 stroke Opti. Me, I like quiet and no smoke to smell, and excellent economy. Just my cheap/non pro $.02, but my old fishing buddy still has the very first Lund I ever bought, and its still worth nearly what I paid for it. The only reason I ever sold that one was my circumstances changed and I couldn't have a boat at that time. Buy the LUND! Good Luck, Paul |

They both should be good boats. The only thing I have noticed about Alumacrafts is that on some models, the capacity is perhaps one less than a Lund of comparable size. My guess for this is that maybe the Alumacraft is heavier due to the full double hull. I could be mistaken on this matter, it just seemed to be a reasonable explanation.
