Default Do keel guards effect boat performance?

Hi guys. Any body have any good or bad things to say about keel guards? Is boat performance effected?

In my experience, no, keel guards do not effect boat performance. I've driven boats with and without and you would never be able to tell the difference. If you have a glass boat and plan on beaching it...ever...put a keel guard on it. If not, save your money.

When a person talks about performance, they are normally talking about high speed performance.

On a good rig, running at higher speeds, the keel guard should essentially be completly out of the water.
So, I would have to figure that the keel guard would have to have some sort of magical magnetic water attraction to affect the performance of a typical well running rig in any way.
