The Verado is a decent outboard. I would think both would be satisfactory.

With the Vrod if you ever fish at altitude like I do you will love it. Still have power without changing props.

Default Another V-rod endorsement

Going on my 5th season - I have one of the first engines. Maintanence is simple - electric shift and even fault code notification is an upgrade with smart craft guages. No issues to date

"Fish-On" Fever - catch it

I'm on my 2nd Verado, and both have been flawless. When I told my wife about buying a new boat her only comment was, you're buying it with a Verado. That was after riding on my buddies Opti for a day.

I have never owned a 4 stroke...I have been in a boat with one, and they are quiet and smooth, but they are not even close to the pro xs on performance...i would go with a pro xs if you even think you want any sort of speed, because it will leave the verado behind...the regular optimax doesnt have as good of performance, so spend the buck and get the Pro XS...just my two cents

I had a 140 Johnson, now a 175 Verado, both are super quiet, but the V-rod has far superior preformance. Get a V-rod, you will not regret it!

I didnt see the pro xs as one of the options he is talking about.....At that its even louder than the reg opti, 0r at least the ones I have heard.
