Insurance Increase for boat this year
So the other day I get my home owners insurance bill in the mail. To my surprise it's about $180 more than it was last year. So I compared last years bill to this years and notice that a majority of it is the boat! I call my insurance company and they start digging into why the company they use has this big increase. They came back and said well we changed how we charge for boats and other toys. Last year they charged you a premium each for the boat, motor, and trailer. All separate, fine and dandy. This year they are charging an increase for the motor, THEN they are charging a much larger premium for the boat because the motor is attached to it. They are taking the combined value of the boat and motor because they are considered one unit. What the heck is up with that?!?! Anyone have any insight? They are hitting you double for the motor. That's bull!
