Default Walleye Growth rate

A walleye planted @ 2" will take how long to grow to 15". Say in a 400 acre lake with plenty of forage. I'm looking at planting records and I'm not sure how far I should look back for this year. Also how old do walleyes live to be on average? Thanks for any info. Tim

This is from a Colorado DOW report - 15 inches is a 3 yr old walleye on average. The min is 10inches the max is 22 inches for a 3 year old. The chart goes up to 8 years old with a 26 inch avg, 20 inch min/ 29 inch max. Hope that helps.

Depends where you are? A fish in Minnesota may take five years to reach 16-17 inchs where in Kansas it only takes 2 years.

Here's a good example! The North Platte system here in Wyoming. Seminole and PathFinder are the first two resevoirs on the system and more like cold water trout fisheries with with only mediocre forage. It takes almost 5 years for a walleye to reach 15 inchs there. A 100 miles east on the same system at Glendo the water is warmer and the forage much better. At Glendo it only takes 2 years!

According to the Wyoming Game and Fish. The actual numbers are Pathfinder 5.4 years, and Glendo 2.5 years.

This information was posted on a North Platte Angler Newsletter on the G&F website.
