Default i-Pilot Motors --- Terrova vs PD2

What are differences between the two motors, other than the Terrova comes with a foot pedal, and the PD2 doesn't? Other than the foot pedal, I'm having a hard time telling the difference between the two motors.

Thanks for any help. I'm trying to decide between the two, and am leaning towards the Terrova.

The most obvious difference is that you can use both the foot pedal AND the remote with the Terrova; on the PDV2 you must choose one or the other but cannot use both. Also, I think the Terrova motor deploys much easier that the PDV2.

Default wish someone would do video on youtube

Compare both side by side. Speed to turn, deploy. Personally I don't see the advantage of
Terrova at $400 or more. Then again I was mainly using riptide version on my last boat. Droping the motor was easy with Armor All applied to shaft. When I sold that boat I never even tried the foot pedal, loved copilot setup.

Default Terrova vs PD

I am in the same situation - thinking which way to go. After reading the posts about the need for rewiring, heavy duty male/female connections, danger of overheating, upgraded circuit breakers, etc - I start to go crazy. Have a 10 year old PD 65 on my 1600 Alaskan now and it seems like the Terrova would be overkill. I understand the upgraded features of the Terrova, but am leaning toward the PD V2 70 with I pilot. No changes needed, just mount and hit the water. Wish Minnkota would make a Terrova 65 or 70 (their 55 may be a bit too small) for the smaller boat market

Default Keep fishing?

If the battery fails in the hand unit, which one of these will allow you to continue fishing? There are other features of the Terrova that are superior, but that one says it all.

I upgraded to a terrova last year, the terrova is much easier to deploy and retract.

All-in-all, it's probably a good thing you can't use the foot control with an ipilot enabled V2; those foot pedals are junk! I went through 3 in 3 years.

I went from the origanal powerdrive v1 to the terrova and if your just comparing the pedals the powerdrive pedal is pure garbage compared to the terrova, not sure if the v2 pedal is still crap or not. The deploy is a little nicer on the terrovas but not $400 nicer. also on the terrova when you stow the motor it has a switch that wont allow it to come on accidently if left pluged in that i know the powerdrives didnt have. So the 400 goes towards better pedal, ability to use pedal and remote at same time, 10 more pounds thrust and a better deploy/stow mechanism.

I always kept my PD foot pedal on board for just that scenario, never happened but I was ready if it did. As a note......I sold my PD and got the Terrova....IMO there is no comparison. I say spend the extra coin and get the top of the line.........

Default Terrova vs PD

So all you Terrova users, did you upgrade your wiring to 6 guage, use a 60 amp circuit breaker and upgrade your plug? I get mixed reports if that is really necessary. My 1600 Alaskan has a pretty short run from the batteries to the bow (about 10 feet total to and back).
