Default Running ducer cable through TM shaft

Have a 80 lb 24 v terrova with ipilot, but not us2. In the past I've run a ducer cable on the outside of the shaft and zip tied it. Well the cable gets damaged and tangled on the mount base often. Thinking of drilling a small hole in the shaft near the bottom, running the cable up the shaft and hopefully out the head somewhere. Beyond the water intrusion issue, anyone for see any issues that might prevent me from doing this??? Or better yet, is this a bad idea? I don't have a bow graph right now, this is just the planning phase.

I'd say the inside of the shaft is open into the motor itself. I think keeping water out is a major factor. How do you plan to seal the hole?

Possible solution without holes.

What depthfinder do you have.

The xducer cable on a Humminbird is small enough diameter to run in the slot. I think the Lowrance cable is just slightly too large.

Running the slot is the only way to go on a Terrova. Takes about 45 minutes to do.

Hmmmm. That looks like it might be a better option. I always thought that slot was used for the steering system, but I guess not. No cutting = better!
