Default Minn Kota Transducer

My neighbor just bought a boat with a Maxxum on it with the universal transducer. I've never owned one, does he just buy the short connector at Fleet or someplace to adapt it to a Lowrance connection? I think it's a Vex now.

If the motor is 2007 or older it will have a US sonar in it, not the US2 used now. The older US adaptor cables are getting harder to find. If the transducer wire has a plastic connector it is the US and the link provided above is for the US2 and will not work.
