Default Cavitating

Hi-newby here-GREAT forum!
I have a 2010 Crestliner 1850 sportfish sst with the towbar over the motor. When I pull a tube it cavitates when I turn.Any speed, trim is all the way down.Doesnt cavitate at any speed when not pulling anything. It has a Merc Verado 150,25" shaft with a 19P Tempest Plus. With this setup,I can get ALOT of bow lift.I never had time to remove transducer and try,but do you think this could be a problem?Prop?Motor height?Transducer is more than a foot away from center line.It cavitates bad enough that I dont even want to pull a tube. This is my 8th boat so I'm not new to boating. Not sure what I can do before I bring it back to dealer, which wont be till after the 4th of July.Going on fishing trips.Any suggestions?

Sorry, I can't offer any suggestions. I am curious though. Are you sure that is a 25" shaft?

It would help if the motor was down in the pictures so we could see how everything lines up.

You need to determine if you are in fact cavitating or ventilating.

Ventilation is when you draw air from the surface of the water and through your prop.

Cavitating is when your prop is totally submerged and you boil the water on the low pressure side of your prop.

Ventilation can be solved through motor height and trim adjustments.

Cavitation can be solved with a lower pitched prop, less throttle or smoother throttle control.

This is for sure a 25".I had the wife drive, and looked where the water was on the lower unit.Water was just below the plate above the prop,at running speed.Which seems correct.I will try get pics with motor down.

If you want to pull tubes and skiers you need to use a four blade or a high five prop. 3 blade will work but will blow out, it is not the best choice for pulling tubes. also more blades work great on crestliner hulls.

x2.

Look at getting a different prop with better grip.

I cant tell you the rpms now because the dealership forgot to dial in the tach and speedo. That is the main reason I need to get it back to the dealer.Only maxing out at around 4k rps.But I can tell it is much higher than that.Going in after the 4th of July.Dealer is 2 hours away.
