Default 4.0 upgrade problems

Hi gang.

I have been reading and learning from here for a while now.

I hope this question helps more than just me.

I have an HDS7...with structure scan, and need the 4.0 update

I have found that I am currently at 2.5.31.56

I have downloaded to an MMS card and when I turn the unit on I get a regular screen but no download happens.

Can somebody tell me what I need to do.

I am leaving for a week long fishing trip to Lady evelyn next weekend...Sat 18 so this is important

thanks in advance...I'm going out to install the stereo and speakers

I believe your updates requre an SD Disk if I remember correctly. I just updated my HDS-10"s using a 4 Gig SD Disk but some say it can be done with a 2 Gig SD Disk. When I tried to down load the upgrade with the 2 Gig SD Disk I only got a partial load so I switched to the 4 Gig and it worked just fine. I sent my 4 Gig to a friend of mine that just purchased the HDS-7 and he up graded his unit using my SD Disk and it upgraded the HDS-7 just fine.

If you see only one file after the down load, then you will need to click
on and "run" that file, which will produce three files that need to load to the SD card.

Also there should be another update to 4.0 due out on the 14th.
2.5 is an old software version, you for sure need to update.

Save the file to your computer and run it. (it is a .exe file) It will extract and save files to your memory card.

I heard the "updated" update was due out on the 16th. I just hope they have something soon.

I'm getting really frustrated with this. It won't load onto the mmc card.
After a few tries at work today and even on another puter the card finally loaded. I bring it home and the unit doesn't even know the card is in there. So i deleted it all again and now I'm getting that repair screen again and then nothing.

have you tried using the stand alone installer?

I never had any luck with the other one

Default upgrade

Load the up-grade to your desk-top on your puter.
it will have a file name with >exe at the end.
Click on this Icon, it will open an installation program and look for your SD card which should be in your computer or a crd reader when you click on the executable file that you downloaded.
It will load the up-grade to your card.
Turn your unit off, plug in the sd card, turn the unit on !
If you are trying to just copy the file to the sd card it won't install on your HDS, your HDS can't see it in that format.
Good luck

Holy cow. Finally got it. For some reason the files were going to deep dark archives. My puter guy at work took a chance a just put a file on the card and it worked. Even he was suprised.

Oh well...thanks for the help. This is a great site and I will post pics from the trip.
