Question Question on Sand Pit Walleyes

I psoted this on the Nebr. blog site too: Near Columbus NE is a private sand pit with residential housing that each December gets stocked with 7-9 inch long walleyes. This has been going on for 5 years, yet my brother who lives there says all he ever catches are small walleyes. So the Question is where are they and how do you catch them?

The sandpit is 35 foot deep at deepest spot and has a variety of fish in it, including bass, crappie, bluegills, catfish, white bass and of course trash fish like carp. Forage base are shiner minnows and shad. As it is all residential, there is very little cover except docks and some sunken trees put there by homeowners.

By bro primarily has trolled cranks and bottom bouncers, and has covered virtually the whole Lake.
Thoughts?????
