switched from a thru hull transducer to a skimmer outside mount.Works great but I lose depth when I get into 5ft of water.My display flashes until it resets in deeper water.Everything else seems to be fine.Whatsup

I had the same issue a couple of years ago, a software up grade and choosing "Shallow Water" mode in Sonar features has fixed the problem.
