Default Shorelandr Spare Tire Mount

Hi Guys, I have a 2007 Lund Explorer SS that came with the matching painted Shorelander. Aside from the fact that it's way more "high maintenance" than galvanized..... I'm having a nightmare of a time trying to keep the spare tire quiet. The bracket is mounted within the tip of the "V" near the front of the trailer. It has two swiveling rods that hang in holes on each side of the trailer. I've tried putting rubber bushings in the holes, and it works.... for about one trip to the lake. The bouncing from the roads eats them right up. Somewhat difficult to explain the setup, but I'm sure there are some guys out there that have the same issue. Can you help? Please!!! The noise is brutal.

Sal,
If you don't like the noise, take the spare tire bracket off of the trailer and either get a different bracket, or leave the spare at home, or toss it into your boat or vehicle.

Good luck

My Shoreland'r didn't come with a spare bracket. I bought an aftermarket one, I think Fulton. No issues with noise. It's fixed mount and either zinc plated or galvanized.

The noise is terrible! And I also wondered about the ground clearance I bought a side mount from cabelas made especially for a shorelander and am happy with it. Good luck ( my local lund dealer also said that there have been alot of complaints about the noise they make and recomended getting a side mount I am glad I did)

Default Spare tire

I have had two Shorelanders with the spare tire mounted toward the bow on the starboard side. The tire is mounted on an angle with the top tilted out. Solid as a rock and never had any problems. Also plenty of clearance.

I know it Jim, I really like the location of it, but they didn't do their homework..... I'm throwing in the towel, if you know the exact bracket you bought at cabela's, I'd really appreciate if you can let me know. Thanks.

I suggest what ever you buy get the heavy duty. I had the welds crack twice on the Fulton light duty. For years I've had the ones that put your tire at an angle other than 90' to the ground work fine.

I use the SM-98 from Ve-Ve, pretty beefy compared to others.
