Hi
The walleye bite on Mille Lacs is spotty this week - the evening has provided the best action with a leech/slip bobber. We're still having some success running spinners/crawlers during the daytime hours too. 4-mile gravel, Highway Bar and the Boot are each worth a look. You'll notice a significant change in the bite from where it was just a few weeks back. Muskie action is concentrated on the deep edges of the weed beds in 11-14 feet. Double bucktails and top-waters are turning most of the fish right now. Early morning and late evening are the best times. Northern are active in Wahkon and Rolands Bay... big suckers under a bobber have been the ticket here. Yes, we still have leeches! Surface temps are still in the low-70's. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The weather for the weekend (from the National Weather Service) looks like this: Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Northwest wind around 10 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Calm wind becoming southwest between 4 and 7 mph. Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. Light west wind. Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming west southwest between 5 and 8 mph The last quarter moon is 8-21-11. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't forget to check out our weekly "shop special" at http://www.lundeens.com/shop.html .
