here's my dilemma, have a HDS8 on the helm, and added i-pilot (instead of copilot) last winter........since then, intermittingly, i will get "black rain" on the fishfinder, it won't mark fish, all i have is black dots.....sometimes it goes away when i power the unit down and back up, and sometimes it doesn't....turning off the TM sometimes helps, and sometimes doesn't.... never did it before i went to the i-pilot......called minnkota, they don't think it's the i-pilot.......its' obviously interference, but not sure where to start...have read all the posts available here.... but nothing specific to lowrance and i-pilot.....i am using the shoot thru the hull transducer, not the transducer off the terrova..... where to start???? HELP!!!

Have you checked the blade fuse in the head of the trolling motor? I have seen instances where this fuse is blown, causing graph interference of the sort you're describing. The fuse is in a watertight holder; there's not much in the head of that motor (now that you've added the i-Pilot, so it will be hard to miss.

I also notice black rain on my lcx25c when my terrova with ipilot is running. Once i turn motor off, it is fine. Wondering if it is feed back through the power cord from the Elite 5 that is hooked to the terrova transducer?
