Default motor upgrade

I have a 99 1650 lund rebel tiller with a 2 stroke mercury and am looking to upgrade. I'm looking at a suzuki 4 stroke or a evinrude e-tec. Anyone have any input for me?

Both are great motors, I would go Suzuki but thats because thats what I have and nothing ever seems to go wrong with it. Suzuki will run you less money also.

The E-Tec is made in Wisconsin USA, where is the Suzuki made?

Default fan of Suzuki

I've have a 2000 DF70 Suzuki and haven't had a single issue with the engine. Always starts, super quiet, good on fuel and most importantly reliable. Mine has been bullet-proof so far. You're not going to care where the engine is built if it's in the shop or you're having to get towed into the dock.

And please don't worry about our failing economy. The U.S. can't continue to thrive being consumers only.

Just where do you think BRP is HQed? Not in the USA, and their corporate profits do not stay here. While it's great that they have plants here that employ many Americans do not for a minute think that they are doing it for the good old USA.

I myself try to support US companies first but in todays world it's almost impossible to say what is truly "Made in the USA" anymore.
Get the Government off the backs of US companies, there is a reason they move production elsewhere.

To the original OP question, both motors are solid, do your research and get the one that fits your requirements.

Not sure what horsepower you're looking at, but this 2-year old test from Trailer Boats compared a bunch of motors in the 50hp class, most of the 60's are based on the 50hp powerhead.

wow, more of this only buy in the usa garbage.. I suggest you get off your computer and stop posting here.. your computer was made in China and the hollier than thou attitude should dictate such.

I own a suzuki and never had a single problem with it. I love the motor and would buy another in a heart beat. Also, when i bought my suzuki on my ranger, I supported my sales rep who made a commision. He took that money and put food on his table. Also, when i get the oil changed, i support the technician and the dealership. Funny hey? As a consumer i will always by what i can when it comes to quality.. i don't care who makes it. It's my choice and i chose to fish every weekend not have it serviced every weekend.

And btw, BRP is in canada.

Another tidbit for you auto guys- Please realize that Ford and GM assemble their cars outside of the USA mostly. But Honda, Toyota, and Nissan actually build their cars here in the states employing literally 1000's of American's. While ford and GM are hiring Mexicans and canadians.
