Default Ranger 620

I have a 2011 Ranger 620vs and generally I am impressed with the boat, however we get a lot of water over the transom (even in smooth water when you stop or when boats go by when we are anchored) and the carpet on the back deck is constantly wet. Is the only solution to put some back splashers on the boat? Seems odd that Ranger couldn't fix this issue in a $60+ boat. Thanks.

1. Don't stop so quick. Ease her down and that won't happen.

2. Are you anchoring from the back end or ?? Seems very odd that water would come over the back when anchored unless you were anchoring off the transom.

If that's the case, just anchor from the bow and that won't happen.

Am I saying water "never" comes over the back? No. The only time I've seen water come over the transom is when we're trolling and a big wave is moving faster than we are.
Or, if I were to try and come off plane and stop too quickly.

I would put Wave Wacker's on the back of that boat even I did not run a Verado. They look nice and will help with your problem.

Default Ranger

2011 620 Ranger with 250 Yami and T8. I get water in the splash well area but never up on the carpet unless I am backing into them. I would bet though if I was anchored from the back then it could happen. I think Vrod is maybe a small child heavier. Sorry I can't give you a fix other than the splash guards.

Well, this isn't a vote for or against his motor. Do you have a suggestion on how to fix his problem?

It's not like he's going to go out and buy a new motor for his Ranger. And, you know what? He probably really likes HIS motor.

Stay on topic please.

Thanks,
Juls

Juls,
My opinion was based on the fact that guys blame the boat for having problems and that Rangers just take on water and are junk. That is where these rumors get started. It is not the boat, as mentioned by many other owners that do not have these problems. Put more weight in the bow? Do not anchor off the back? All been mentioned......many other guys are running verados and don't have these issues, hopefully they will chime in.....

Default Water over the back...

Well...., we don't use a regular anchor anymore with IPilot. And...., yes we are pretty careful when we stop (not rookies as we have run walleye boats for thirty years), but, heck it is walleye boat, right? Again, we love the Ranger and the Verado, just seems like a pretty easy technical fix for them at the factory. WaveWackers have been ordered and will be installed. When you fish Lake Oahe ya' probably need them anyway as the wind and waves are always stirring. I know the problem is not unique to us as we have talked to other Ranger owners who grumble about this fixable glitch.
Thanks for the input. We are still very happy with the ride and quality of the boat after moving from a Lund GL208, although that boat never had water over the back.
