I hung the first year 135V-rod on my 1800 fisherman in '06 - no real issues to date. I can push 44MPH all day long with 3 guys, 2 full live wells and a 40 gallon tank full of regular gas......

Max it out with a 200 hp E-Tec.

Soon. I know a lot of us are waiting to see it.

Top end is nice, no question. But it's more about low end torque and mid range torque. I'd rather have HP to spare then be sitting there wanting more.

Wade, surely maxing out is nice and most would love to do so except for that one little thing- money, so they (we) compromise. A little here, a little there, and we each feel diiffeently about how much and on what items we will compromise. For you, obviously, there is no compromise on engine capacity. I respect that, I understand that, I appreciate that, but chances are unless you are independently wealthy there are some compromises you've made in your current rig, even if small ones. The reality is that mid 40's as a high end vs 50's is more than sufficient for a considerable number of fishermen, and they will have plenty of low-mid range torque, especially with some of today's platforms with superchargers . This frees up enough money so that instead of putting on a 5" color maybe they get the Lowrance 8" sonar/gps with downscan, a terrova, or a kicker, or something else that's important to them. Something they may not have bought had they not made the engine compromise. I don't know the facts but I'd say surely more boats are powered at 75% of hull capacity than 100% for that very reason. I still believe the rule of thumb is generally accurate at 75% and above. Less than that and your boat may not perform as intended. Anyhow, I may be wrong, just sayn.
