Default Good Post and Endorsements

This is a awesome post for Hummingbird, glowing endorsements, pictures of all the new features and options. Jason is a huge benefit for Hummingbird, his website and the information is second to none. No better spokesperson for Hummingbird, I have seen. WC is very fortunate to have someone like Jason promotiing Hummingbird. When I read all this it is clear I settled for a substandard unit when I bought my Lowrances. Fisherman are so fortunate to have electronic manufacturers like Hummingbird, Lowrance, Garmin and Vexilar to chose from. Thanks Jason for your willingness to share your information.

I'll second that!

Default Another Very Cool Point About Hummingbirds

"the NEMEA network" Hummingbird is now capable with the NEMEA network this year. Lowrance users have realized the value of this feature for a long time. Welcome aboard Hummingbird. Or do I have it wrong that "Hummingbird has just recently entered into the world of networking. "Appreciate the update if i am incorrect.Networking is one key reason I have stayed with Lowrance.....both great products Bird and Lowrance. Benefits to both.

I would like to see Garmin add GPS to their new Echo sonar line.

Looks like Garmin has finally made a nice sonar display.

If they incorporate the GPS feature in the line then I`m a buyer.

Now I`d go with Humminbird.

Personally I would go with a Vexilar EdgeIII based on my EdgeII and experiene with the companys great service.

I guess Humminbird was more worried about developing Side Imaging, quality customer service department and legacy unit repair policies. They were just to busy doing all that do get NMEA done as well.

Default Wade Good Point

I can't disagree with you. A solid business plan. I meant what is stated in previos posts. Jason is able and does bring alot of good points about Hummingbird to the forefront. Unfortunately, companies like Lowrance can't do the same on this site and others. A recent post from Jim Carroll, on the map overlay feature with the new Gen 2, with screen shots was deleted as a example. Then when I asked,,what I thought was a reasonable question to why it was deleted both publically and privately, no answer. I feel it would be excellent if one could come to a site like this and savey folks like Jason could share features, reccomendations and benefits openly on other electronic manufacturers too. This site is privately owned and Scott Golden can do as he pleases, and has good reasons for doing so. Unfortunately at times it becomes nothing more then bashing of Lowrance. I say to the comments from the past they are corrrect, customer service was bad a while back, is it now? no. Lowrance customer service, the past two years,my hold time is less then two minutes and my questions have been answered. I have a number of Lowrance Legacy units that perform just fine 104, 37, 38 and put in as much time as anyone on the water too. I am currently enjoying the Lowrance HDS technology.I have a small Humminbird unit too, I like the bright screen and a number of other features as well. The old time flasher has some awesome atributes as well for the angler that has spent time with it. What about the huge success of the Lowrance 2330 flasher? Hummingbird tried to compete and came out with a Super 30 unit. I have had two of them both viberated so bad I could not stand to have them on, until they self destructed. Lets remember both mfg's have had their ups and downs with products. The Hummingbird paper graph was another example, simply a piece of junk. Both companies have emerged stronger today then they were before. That is a benefit to all of us that love the sport of fishing. Thanks for hearing me out

Default Thanks Wade

Does it mean Lowrance is better because they took the lead on the NEMEA network. No.............. i am happy Hummingbird jumped on board with it. I bought my units based on what fits best my fishing style. Networking has always been a feature important to me. I see alot of value in sharing sonar readings from the front and the back of the boat. Before networking as a feature I had two Lowrance 2330's in the rear and again in the bow one took sonar readings from the rear and the other bow. It helped determine slope and location of fish on the slopes or breaks. Particularly of value when fishing panfish like crappes and blue gills. With the bow on the weed edge I could determine location based on sun angles and shade cast along weed edges. i learned that as the sun got higher in the sky crappies didn't necessarily stop biting but instead moved and got tight to the weed edges, i adjusted my presentation to fit the conditions, my electronics was a tool I used for this. Another technique I did years ago, when using a flasher on the bow, tilt the transducer forward meaning put a pan head screw on the back side of the transducer raising it about 3/16 to 1/4" off the trolling motor housing. Then as I moved along a weed edge I would swivel the bow point from the shallow to the deep edge. By doing so I could see in advance, weeds small points, dips and determine a sharp slope or gradual one before I got there and adjust my boat path accordingly. If it was a sharp slope the reading would quickly drop as I swiveled the motor from shallow to deep. The opposite occurred on shallow slopes. This was back when I was doing alot of crappie material for In-Fisherman and Fishing Facts. Lindners apparently felt it was good stuff too and that why they published it. Hope this better explains where I am coming from.

I didn't know informative posts/pictures were being deleted from this site. If this is actually true it really changes my opinion of what I thought was a terrific site. I'm not saying you are lying Gary, but can anyone else confirm that the posts/pictures of structure scan Gary mentioned were deleted? Is it possible that Lowrance asked they be removed as if they were posted before Lorwance actually unveiled their official photos?

Tugger, I personally visited with Jim on this subject and Lowrance played no part in the disappearance of the mentioned post featuring Structure Map. As Gary stated, it is a privately owned site but unbiased input is then the victim. Have a great day!
